The real value of business intelligence with true ROI for Sony lied in improved productivity and better analysis.  Being able to evaluate results and then make decisions in near real time had extraordinary value for Sony.

An integrated BI system allowed Sony retail managers to look at different parts of the business and be assured that everyone else was looking at the same data. This way, operational opportunities and problems can be identified and dealt with far more quickly.

Shifting to a fully integrated platform for Sony was relatively easy. Many times, all the required systems are in place; the only missing link is a common architecture and the applications for allowing them to communicate.

Sony estimated that better analysis and planning would save, on average, one labour hour per day per store for the entire year. Due to its size and number of stores, this initiative resulted in millions of dollars in cost savings while more accurately deploying resources at each store.

Client's Objectives were to track inventory of professional consumer goods, calculate revenue and profit margin in euro and in tune with exchange rate, enable focused marketing campaigns and Performance tracking.

We developed a decision support system, which gave its store managers instant access to daily inventory and alerts them to any out-of-stock or overstock situations. We designed a data mart solution that sources sales, inventory, and forecast data from SAP 4.2 and computes the correct Euro exchange rates. Using the latest technology and correct configuration of Oracle 8i on Linux, we improved the speed of the data retrieval by %75. Any errors and inconsistencies were noted and reported to the administrators automatically.
